My name is Paige Duracher and I'm a freshman here at MC. I'm from Mandeville Louisiana, which is right across the lake from New Orleans. Coming to MC was a totally new experience for me, considering I've grown up and been around the same people for eighteen years, and didn't know a single person when i first stepped on campus. It has been a total culture shock for me. The people are different, the food is different, and the environment is different. One of the first things i noticed about the people here, are that everyone is super friendly..and very approachable. For example...I've learned that if a complete stranger is walking towards you on the street it would be considered rude if you didn't give them a appeasing smile. Another thing I've noticed here, is that the food is very good! Especially the mac and cheese..which has now sparked an obsessive addiction for my craving of easy macs. However, everyone here in Mississippi puts white gravy on EVERYTHING. like seriously, everything. On biscuits, potatoes, pancakes, and even on eggs! I was like what is up with this white gravy?! So i tried some and almost threw up. The environment is something that i totally enjoy. except for the hills. I feel like I'm about to have a heart attack while walking to each of my classes..but it's getting better.

Paige! It's me, your favorite roommate! I am so glad you decided to come here even though you didn't know anyone. That took a lot of courage and I don't know if I could have done it. I am definitely feeling you on the hills and the walks to class, especially those 8 a.m.'s that are clear across campus! Hope you have a fun day and run good :)

I agree with you completely about everyone here being so friendly! I'm from Chattanooga, TN, and can't go home so it helps a ton to be around friendly people. You are also brave for trying the gravy. That is one thing that I have not worked up the nerves to do yet.
